Short CV

Born on November 4 1965 and educated in Lokeren, he is the son of Etienne Verdegem, a physiotherapist, and Maria Verdegem-Verschelden, a school teacher.

  • In 1983, graduated with a Diploma in Modern Humanities Diploma at Lokeren High School.
  • From 1983 to 1986, trained with Rick Klaassen (former National Trainer of the Dutch Olympic Dressage team) in Hilden, close to Düsseldorf (Germany).
  • End 1986, obtained with Honours his "Horse Trainer" Diploma in Warendorf (Germany).
  • Until end 1987, worked with Norbert Koof (former  Show-Jumping World Champion) in Willich (Germany).
  • In 1988, military service at Duisburg (Tervuren) in the Land Forces Riding School.
  • From September 1988 to June 1990, student at the blacksmith school in Anderlecht.
  • In June 1990, obtained his "Master Blacksmith" diploma.
  • Since 1990, works as an independent instructor and blacksmith.
  • Beginning 1993, Stal Verdegem opened its doors in Heverlee.
